High Quality Education

The German education system has established a global reputation for its focus on practice-oriented curriculum, research and innovation, and its inclusive culture. The German education system, particularly the higher education system, continues to attract thousands of international students every year with its research and practice-oriented curriculum and career exposure.

Many German universities are featured consistently in international rankings, including the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and Shanghai Rankings. In 2024, 10 German institutions appeared on the Times Higher Education World University Rankings list.

Part Time Work Opportunities

Having the opportunity to work part-time as an international student has many benefits. Students who work part-time enhance their social and professional networks, gain a stronger understanding of German work culture, earn a salary to support themselves, and gain valuable personal and professional skills.

It is important to note that international students coming to Germany from outside the EU can only work either 120 full days or 240 half days every year. Studies report that a whopping two-thirds of the students (domestic and international) in the country work part-time while pursuing higher education.

Safe Environment

According to the 2023 Global Peace Index, Germany is one of the most peaceful countries in a comparison to 163 other countries. A 2021 student survey funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research shared that over 80% of international students report that they feel safe in Germany. A majority of respondents also feel welcome and would recommend Germany as a place to study to their friends.

Quality of Life

With excellent infrastructure and a systematic mass transit system, Germany is clean and orderly. Thanks to often flexible working hours and excellent recreational opportunities, Germany offers students and new grads a good work-life balance.

In the Annual Best Countries Report 2023, Germans' quality of life ranked ninth highest in the world. Countries were ranked based on their affordability, safety, the job market, levels of income equality, economic and political stability, and the quality of national public education and health systems.
